With Mono Arts Council, you can be a student at any age! This month, we are happy to spotlight one of our adult students, Sonja Bush. Sonja is a local Real Estate Agent and has participated in our Art & Wine program for many years.
Why do you love the arts?
I love the arts because it forces me to use the other side of my brain. I am super focused on my career and working all the time - taking time for these events forces me to relax and energize my brain! I come away feeling happy and relaxed!
What is a favorite piece of art that you have created in the Art + Wine program?
I have created several great pieces at these fun events. I’m not sure I have a favorite but my Mom receives all my finished products and displays them proudly! With the exception of these cookies which I enjoyed myself!
What would you say to a friend to get them interested in the arts?
I am not very “artsy” and was initially intimidated but these classes are so fun for any level of artistic ability. There are some really talented people and then are people like me who can barely draw a stick figure - but we all have fun!
Why are the arts so important right now?
Participating in these evenings is always fun, but especially important now as we have been so isolated. Being with others in a safe and fun environment is good for the soul!
