August 10th-12th 2022
Day 1 - 9 AM to 4 PM: Mono Lake County Park
This day will focus on observation, birds, and we will both create detail pencil drawings, as well as a landscape using watercolor pencils and ink. County Park oscillates between dynamic ecosystems that have many beautiful details we will uncover throughout the day. Difficulty level will be ‘easy’.
Day 2 - 9 AM to 4 PM: Lundy Canyon Resort
We will discuss the importance of stream restoration and discover what healthy streams look like. Flowers, insects, and trees will inspire nature art prints with acrylic paint, and oil pastel techniques for capturing landscapes, along the way. This day will be ‘moderate’ and we’ll hike a total of 4 miles.
Day 3 - 9 AM to 1 PM (short day): South Tufa
The unique wonder of South Tufa lends itself to discovering the magic of Mono Lake. We will go out on canoes to begin the day and then finish the camp on the shores of Mono Lake. We will be incorporating the importance of this sun-powered ecosystem with the opportunity to make cyanotype sun prints and finish off collaborating on a large scale acrylic painting.
