Arts Integration
MAC has partnered with the Mono County Office of Education to provide professional development in Arts Integration for the classroom teachers of Mono County. MAC currently provides nearly 100% of arts education for K-12 students in Mono County. Arts Integration will help more children have access to arts education through this “train the teacher” model.
Create Eastern Sierra Summer Arts Institute (CESSAI)
The Create Eastern Sierra Summer Arts Institute (CESSAI) provides arts training and tools that meet the California Arts Standards and address Social-Emotional Competencies for classroom teachers to integrate into their regular classrooms.
MAC's DEP will culminate in a two-day, intensive conference at CESSAI. These workshops will be interactive and engaging and are 90 minutes long. There should be about 25-30 minutes after each lesson for reflection and questions. Each attendee will walk away with new ideas and tools to use for integrating arts successfully and knowledge on how to address social-emotional competencies in their lessons and classrooms.
Mono Arts Council (MAC) is proud to have participated in the development of the Mono County Strategic Arts Plan. The Mono County Strategic Arts Plan (MCSAP) outlines arts education needs and the direction for arts education in Mono County for the next 10 years. A key pillar of this plan was arts integration training for Mono County teachers to give students more opportunities to connect and engage in the arts.

Our flagship Arts Integration training program is the Dance Education Project (DEP). DEP’s goal is to bring vital Social Emotional Learning (SEL), arts education, and technology access to students and school districts who otherwise would not have them. The training will focus on how to use the technology elements and manual, and how to easily replicate the lessons via knowledge of steps, techniques, and the pedagogy behind DEP’s success.
DEP is a technology-driven, professional development service that provides year-long dance arts-integrated and SEL training for school teachers. The professional development sessions will consist of several 3- to 4- hour training sessions specially designed for classroom and gym teachers.
Additionally, throughout the year, classroom teachers will receive a series of professional development days in arts integration in Theater, Music, Visual Arts & Digital Arts. These workshops will be enhanced through access to Technology Enhanced Arts Learning (TEAL), Los Angeles County Office of Education’s (LACOE) online training program in Arts Integration.
