Basket Weaving with Lucy Parker and family

MAC is so excited to offer this basket weaving class with talented local artist and basket weaver Lucy Parker, who teaches traditional Native American Basket Weaving all over the U.S.

  

Class Price: $100 Talented local artist Lucy Parker comes from a long line of basket makers. She is a great granddaughter of expert weaver and innovator Lucy Tom Telles (Yosemite Miwok – Paiute). As a young child in Yosemite National Park, Lucy began learning basket weaving and other key cultural skills. She works closely with her mother, Julia Parker . Lucy is an active demonstrator and lecturer in the Yosemite area, as well as throughout California and the United States. Her baskets are in notable museum collections including the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. Lucy works with park services and land management organizations educating the public and government agencies and advocating for the protection and preservation of traditional land management for weaving and gathering sites.

Donate to MAC

Friends of the Arts - $150

Friends of the Arts is our donor level for all patron and arts supporters. We need 250 Friends of the Arts for our after school programs, community outreach, and gallery maintenance.

Patrons - $500

Our Patrons donor level helps provide foundational funding for our student Scholarship program and our Summer Art Camp. We need 25 Patrons.

Dreammakers - $2,500 to $5,000

The Dreammakers donor level will help launch our Music Program and provide continued support for our new Digital Arts program. $50,000 annually.

Guardians

Our Guardians provide the core funding for our faculty, staff and facilities providing arts programs to the community throughout the year. Please contact Kristin Reese (kristin@monoarts.org) for more information.
