MAC April Student Spotlight: Siana

We have had so much fun traveling around the county this month talking to all of the schools about the upcoming MAC Student Art Show in May. We got to see and talk to so many young and talented artists and we were in AWE of their excitement and their art-making.

While in Lee Vining, we had time to sit down with 3rd grader Siana to talk to her about art. When we asked to photograph her with a piece she had made, she had SO many she had to sort through - and she said “I just really love art” while she was looking! We love experiences like that. Keep reading to hear more about Siana!

Why do you love art?

Just because it makes me happy and think about other people that I love.

What is a favorite piece of art you have created?

Probably the one of my imaginary friend Judy. It’s a girl standing in the woods with a girl and a tree, using markers for last year’s student art show

What would you say to a friend to get them interested in art?

I would say if you haven’t tried art, art is really fun and you can use colored pencils, crayons, paint, and if you want to try it you can buy the stuff online and just start painting.

Do you think art is important? Why?

I think art is important because you can do lots of pieces of art like draw a picture of your best friend you had as a kid and you can remember it when you look back.

What do you love to create the most?

Paintings of friends of family and my cat benson and kit kit (orca fin).

Anything else we should know? Is there any kind of art you wish you could try?

I love doing baseball! Our team is the royals and we have practice today. I draw baseball pictures like portraits of my team mates. I like to dance. I want to try sketching.
