MAC July Student Spotlight: Jordy

We've been having so much fun with our camps this summer - so many AMAZING kids who are super excited to talk to us about why they love art. This month, we talked to Jordy, age 7, from our Arts Alive! camp about why he's an art lover. Read on to hear more from Jordy (pictured here pointing to his favorite piece of art in our MAC gallery)!

Why do you like this piece of art?

Because it had skulls and teeth and a painting in the background of a sardine can  - it uses a lot of different materials. I eat sardines every day!

Why do you like art?

I like art because you can create whatever you want. I like to draw people eating apples and all that stuff.

Do you have a favorite piece of art you have created?

I like all of the art I’ve made. Once I made a painting of mountains that I really liked - I used a bunch of white and black and a little red that I shaded in very light on mountains

What would you say to a friend who wasn't interested in art?

I would say just start drawing random things - and that’s how you get more creativity.

Why do you think art matters?

Art is important because it shows what happened in the past, what you’ve done, pictures of what could happen - it’s all those things.
