We have had so much fun traveling around the county this month talking to all of the schools about the upcoming MAC Student Art Show in May. We got to see and talk to so many young and talented artists and we were in AWE of their excitement and their art-making. While in Lee Vining, we had time to sit down with 3rd grader Siana to talk to her about art. When we asked to photograph her with a piece she had made, she had SO many she had to sort through - and she said “I just really love art”...

When we were working on last month's Student Spotlight, it was a snowy winter wonderland and we were hunkering down trying to stay cozy and warm - and just like that, now it's 75 degrees and it feels a lot like SUMMER already! As the snow melts away, and the sun stays out longer, we start thinking about our annual Student Art Show, coming later this spring - so we talked to a student, Declan, who was in the show last year, and plans to be in it again this year. For this SNOWY February Spotlight, we asked our friend Collin, age 11, to tell us about why he loves art. Collin has been a MAC student for several years, and we love to see what new things he creates in our classes! For the past few years, MAC has worked with the Lee Vining Elementary School to create art for their space, and last year we created a patchwork of Mono Lake together with parents and students.
